AmeriCorps Program


AmeriCorps 2013-14 Application Cycle Now Open

Super Stars literacy hosts 28 AmeriCorps Members who work full time to deliver an intensive, after-school literacy program. This program is designed to improve educational achievement for high-need Kindergarten through 2nd graders in Oakland, Hayward, Richmond, and Antioch.


Program Highlights:

  • Extensive training on teaching skills such as classroom management, lesson planning, and literacy instruction.
  • Ongoing support and one-on-one instructional coaching.
  • 1 school year of experience teaching a classroom of approximately 20 students for 3 hours a day Monday-Friday.
  • Retreats, weekly team meetings, service days, and other teambuilding activities.
  • Help prepare at-risk youth to succeed in school!

  • Upon completion of the program, members may be eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 for loan repayment or future education expenses.
