Reading with Ross

First Volunteering Events

Ross was the best!

Last week, Super Stars was lucky to have Ross Dress for Less come and volunteer at Aspire Monarch Academy! These were our first volunteer events of the year, so thank you to our Volunteer Coordinator, Marwa, for planning these opportunities, and thank you Ross for being so great with our students.

We first had a small group of Ross volunteers helping out on Wednesday, September 18, with our kindergarten and 1st grade class.

It was a great start to the year! One of our volunteers, Mr. D, talked with me and Marwa after the event, saying that he had a great time and would love to bring his own team at Ross to volunteer with Super Stars! It always feels extremely rewarding to see how volunteering and reading can bring our communities together. We would love to have you back, Mr. D!

Then, on Friday, September 27, 16 volunteers from Ross came in for a Reading Buddies event at Apsire Monarch Academy. It was our first big volunteering event, so it was exciting to see so many adults filling up our 1st and 2nd grade classes.

As requested from their team, we brought in books relating to Fall for everyone to enjoy. Many of our students were happy to share their ideas, stories, and memories of the leaves turning color, of celebrating the holidays, and their Halloween plans for October.

An appropriate read for the season 🙂

At the end of the day, our students waved goodbye to our volunteers and said a big, loud thank you to them as they left for the day. It was an unforgettable event, and we hope to see our Ross volunteers again!
